- To provide affordable housing for older people in need.
- To provide residents with a home for life
- To provide a high quality and supportive housing service that aims to promote independent living
- To provide housing services that are flexible to assist older people to ‘age in place’
- To provide opportunities for older people to participate; in line with their interests and capacities.
- To work in partnership with other organisations to advocate for policy and practice changes that will enhance the social inclusion of older people
Housing criteria:
- You must be at least 60 years of age.
- You must be in genuine housing need and/or homeless or at risk of homelessness
- You must be eligible for rent allowance or to have the means to pay our low-cost/affordable rent.
- Any applicant must be able to live reasonably independently or with the aid – if necessary/where appropriate – of a support package. Applicants who have high care and/or support needs may be offered a home with ALONE provided that the relevant agencies (e.g. the HSE) put a care/support package in place to meet these needs. If ALONE is of the view that an appropriate level of support is not available then the application may be deferred.
Volunteer Befriending:
- Befriending & providing companionship (minimum 1 hour a week)
- Alleviating loneliness & isolation
- Practical support
- Supporting the older person to integrate into their community
- To support the older person to pursue their goals
- To act as an advocate – housing, health, education, transport, personal safety, leisure & culture, etc. (support from ALONE on this)
